Expert: Number of Russians using pirated content could quintuple
MOSCOW, Apr 29 (PRIME) -- Pirated content is consumed by 12% of Russians, who can be joined by half of the country’s people, Otkritie FC Bank said on Friday in a research.
“About 51% of Russians regularly use pay services – films, music, sports broadcasts: 34% of them do it constantly, 17% from time to time. The remaining 49% said they do not use such services,” the research read.
Among those using pay content, 79% pay for films, 55% for music, and 14% for sports broadcasts. The study showed that 45% of the pay content users said they do not plan to drop it among the restrictions and 45% will reduce their consumption partially.
“Tolerance to pirated content among Russians remains high: 12% admitted they already use such content…50% more are ready to start using pirated content,” the research read.
Otkritie FC Bank held the research on April 22–Tuesday among 1,000 respondents aged 18 to 65 across the country.
